We have 19 young adults eager to begin their 9.5-month Fellowship with QVS. Here are a few highlights from our incoming Fellow cohort:

  • The Boston QVS House will have eight Fellows participating in the Boston Angelic Troublemakers program with Zenaida Peterson leading them as the Boston City Coordinator.
  • The Philadelphia QVS House will have five Fellows and will be guided by Philadelphia City Coordinator Rai Carter. Rai spent 5 weeks this summer with our Summer Lab Residents and has lots of new ideas for our incoming cohort.
  • The Minneapolis QVS House will have six Fellows navigating their QVS year with Ray Hommeyer, our newest City Coordinator. Ray brings their knowledge and experience as a recent seminary grad to their work with QVS.
  • Two Fellows from last year are extending their time with QVS: Nora served last year in Minneapolis and will be in Boston this year. She is switching places with Michael who served in Boston last year and will serve in Minneapolis this year.
  • Our incoming Fellows have rich spiritual lives and come from a variety of backgrounds. Some are Quaker and are familiar with Quaker patterns of worship and life. Others have faith backgrounds in Buddhism, Moravian, Catholic, and Unitarian Universalism. Our incoming Fellows are spiritually curious and we are excited about giving them a chance to learn more about their inner life during their QVS year.
  • Our new cohort is into a lot of cool activities! We have chefs, artists, crafters, gardeners, and ultimate frisbee players.  Our new Fellows get nourishment from relaxing inside with a book, game, craft, or conversation. They also enjoy being in nature, exploring, playing and watching sports.
  • The incoming cohort of Fellows are experienced organizers and activists.  From speaking up for justice in Palestine to organizing to oppose Cop City in Atlanta; from organizing to return land to indigenous people to participating in the Catholic Worker Movement; from working with survivors of domestic violence to creating community through music making – These are young adults who are eager to make a difference in the world and have already been busy doing so much.

We are looking forward to meeting all of the new Fellows at National Orientation in a few weeks! To read their individual bios, check out the Boston, Philadelphia, and Minneapolis City Pages.

We hope you will welcome the new Fellows on Facebook or Instagram where you can learn more about them. You can like a post, drop a comment, and help us support these amazing young adults as they experience transformation through service and community with QVS!
