In December 2020, Walid graduated Earlham School of Religion with his MA in Religion after completing his thesis titled Indigeneity, Nationalism, and Palestinian Christian Liberation Theology: A Critique of Zionist Theologies. Although Walid completed his time at Earlham, he is continuing his leadership contributions to their Quaker Fellows scholarship program through the end of this school year remotely, due to the pandemic.

Soon after, Walid moved to Greensboro, NC — home of one of his other alma maters, Guilford College. Now Walid works in language access and strategic planning at UNC Greensboro’s Center for New North Carolinians, and as the director of Go Palestine, a camp for diasporan Palestinian youth at the Ramallah Friends School. He also serves on the board of Every Campus a Refuge. When Walid isn’t busy with one of his many projects and leadership roles, he loves to travel and cook. He’s recently been discovering fitness overall, and often enjoys 5k runs.

I learned how important it is to communicate effectively and directly during a conflict, and not worry too much about whether I’ll be liked or not, and staying true to myself and what my inner gut is telling me.
